Today’s global

Business environment is getting tough and rough and supply chain management plays a significant role in

securing the present and shaping the future so,

organizations are trying to survive through attracting the best talents and standing up their operations and infrastructures to be more resilient against risks and disruptions.

In this meeting Eng. Khaled Abd El Mohsen will define the true supply chain game, supply chain resilience and ways to mitigate risks in supply and demand in the

VUCA world where everyone is practicing the supply chain management naturally in the daily routine.

EVERYONE IS A SUPPLY CHAIN PRACTITIONER BY NATURE

Every human being is a supply chainer by nature which every organ has a role to do so he can reach his goal which is the survival that happens through practicing dependent and independent supply chain.

Dependent supply chain occurs when the brain (supply and demand planner) has problems and can’t work.

Human being develops interdependent supply chain with other stake holder so he can get his other needs like water Food, water and clothes which is the demand.  He also use it in so many phases like the strategic planning in the marriage, also satisfying the customer needs when he satisfies the family needs.

SUPPLY CHAIN IS A NATURAL PRACTICE:

The global network of organizations that integrate together to deliver products and services from raw materials (END) to Customer / consumers (END) through an engineered flow of information, physical distribution, and cash. Network consists of nodes, Flows and Values flow in between.

 SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT:

The design, planning, execution, control, and monitoring of supply chain activities integrating all nodes in supply chain, using different approaches, models, strategies with the objective of:

- Orchestrating supply with demand.

-Creating Net Financial Value and Sustainability.

-Creating Customer Value and Sustainability.

- Creating Social Value and Sustainability.

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT ISSUES

Fierce dynamic global competition which represents several critical supply chain management challenges to enterprises and organization.

Complex economic government and regulatory influences.

Variable and changing customer expectations

enterprises are under increasing pressure to create high-quality products and to create them consistently.

Vertical Integration

Vertical integration is often closely associated to vertical expansion which, in economics, is the growth of a business enterprise through the acquisition of companies that produce the intermediate goods needed by the business or help market and distribute its product. Such expansion is desired because it secures the supplies needed by the firm to produce its product and the market needed to sell the product.

Its benefits:

- No dealing with competitors for supplies.

-Enhanced visibility into operations.

- Same ownership and management for all activities in supply chain.

Horizontal integration

is the process of a company increasing production of goods or services at the same part of the supply chain. A company may do this via internal expansion, acquisition or merger.

The process can lead to monopoly if a company captures the vast majority of the market for that product or service.

Horizontal integration contrasts with vertical integration, where companies integrate multiple stages of production of a small number of production units.

Benefits

Economies of scale and scope

Improved business focus

Leveraging communication and production competencies

SUPPLY CHAIN DISRUPTIONS IN THE VUCA WORLD

Disruption is disturbance or problems which interrupt a SC event, activity, or process.

Complexity the amount of dependency and interactive effect of multiple factors and drivers.

Volatility Rate, amount & magnitude of change.

Ambiguity the degree to which information, situations, and events can be interpreted in multiple ways.

Uncertainty Amount of unpredictability of the event.

SUPPLY CHAIN RESILIENCE

Containment of disruption and recovery from it.

Ability of a system to return to its original state or move to a new desirable state after being disturbed.
